Musratha (also spelt as Misurata or Misurathah) is located about 250km east of the capital Tripoli. The port, also known as Qasr Ahmed, is a commercial port serving the town and the neighboring power station and the steel factory, and in addition to normal goods it can handle petroleum and containers. The port is visited by about 200 vessels a year.
